This weekend, the National Park Service will begin extended summer hours for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, remaining open until 7 p.m. Visitors have access to the Statue’s pedestal, observation deck, museum, grounds, and now, once again, the crown. In anticipation of demand to reach the crown, the NPS is offering 37 percent more tickets for the crown, as well as 15 percent more tickets for the pedestal.
Statue Cruises, the official ferry service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, will also offer extended hours. Departures to the Statue will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning this weekend. The extended hours will run through Labor Day.
Special events taking place this summer include the 70th Anniversary D-Day Commemoration on Liberty Island on June 6 and Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular on the East River on July 4.
The only way to experience the world-renowned Statue of Liberty is with Statue Cruises, the official concessioner to the National Park Service for ferry service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. With the peak season already underway, Statue Cruises announced additional departures to accommodate the Statue’s expanded summer hours beginning Memorial Day weekend with departures from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The two islands will now close at 7:00 pm. Statue Cruises also announced a schedule of upcoming events and important dates over the course of the summer.
Visitors will have access to the Statue of Liberty’s crown, pedestal, observation deck, museum and grounds along with guided tours that chronicle our nation’s treasured history. In preparation for the extended summer hours, there are now 37 percent more tickets for the crown and 15 percent more tickets for the pedestal.
