Orlando’s International Drive may become home to a new hotel and mall if a proposal is approved by the planning board in June. The proposed project would remove the International Shoppes strip mall and build a new 31-story mall and hotel called iSquare. The mall area, on the lower floors, would have 160,000 square feet of retail space. The upper floors would house 1,200 hotel rooms. Situated as the center eye point would be an observation deck with a rotating restaurant. If approved, iSquare could open in 2017.
The new hotel comes along the heels of the new I-Walk on International Drive, which will feature the Orlando Eye and Madame Tussauds Museum attractions in spring of 2015.
