Jekyll Island Authority’s board of directors have approved plans to build three new hotels on the island, located off the coast of Georgia.
Three new hotels include a 201-room Courtyard by Marriott, a 150-room SpringHill Suites by Marriott, and a 175-room hotel yet to be named, providing 535 more rooms to be completed by 2017. All three hotels are being developed at the tune of $88 million by the Trammell Crow Company.
The two Marriott properties will occupy the space of the former Buccaneer Beach Resort and the Georgia Coast Inn, with plans to open by summer of 2016 (or as early as December 2015). The third full-service hotel has been approved to sit on more than 15 acres slated to open in 2017.
