Located next door to Edinburgh Castle, the funky Grassmarket Hotel is ideally situated nearest Edinburgh’s most popular family attractions. That said, the boutique property provides rooms that even the hotel calls “Cosy,” “Snug,” and “Comfy.” Cosy rooms only provide a single bed, Snug rooms sleep two, and Comfy rooms with twin or double beds sleep two with slightly more space. The hotel is very budget-friendly, however, and families with teens may not mind splitting into different rooms for half the price than most hotels in the city. Guests receive free Wi-Fi, and rooms are outfitted with iPod docking stations.

We stayed here 2 nights with our adult daughter. The staff asked about our bed preferences at check in (we were early) and when we came back we settled into our double-single arrangements. Very comfortable and modern. Towels were plush and bathroom really nice. Breakfast in adjacent bar was awesome! Front desk staff very efficient!!

A great location, fun and warm design, clean and friendly, and some nice extra amenities, like bluetooth speakers at the room and a great and spacious shower. However the rest of the room was ridiculously small (could have used a slightly smaller bathroom to have some room for our luggage!) and in order to get to it we had to trek up one floor in an elevator, than across a long and winding corridor, another two flights of stairs, through what seems like a fire exit, and another long and winding corridor. Kind of awkward...
