Just returned from a wonderful two week vacation in Naples, Florida with my wife and adult daughter. We spent our first week at a resort on the water on Vanderbilt Beach. Unfortunately, the red tide was in full bloom making the first week's stay rather uncomfortable. For our second week, we stayed at the Inn at Pelican Bay about a mile from the coast. No concerns about red tide there. The hotel is beautiful. It is a family owned property and it shows. The staff were like family to us. On arrival we met Willy the bell captain. Willy is very charismatic and a delight to converse with. Our wish was his command. At check-in we met Bob Keane, a fellow Bostonian. Great guy, great sense of humor, and a top shelf concierge. We had a nightly cocktail at the lobby bar and were introduced to Jeff, Steph, and Tony, all of whom entertained us with some very funny stories. The grounds are impeccable. The pool is spotless and overlooks a small pond. The hotel offers a nice continental breakfast each morning with a gentleman playing acoustic guitar in the lobby. We cannot wait to return to the Inn on the at Pelican Bay.
