Overview
by Amanda Geronikos
Secret Harbour Beach Resort is a secret we’re willing to share. The charming resort is tucked away on a quiet stretch of beach in St. Thomas, and features condos with full kitchens and balconies. It doesn’t offer many resort-style amenities — that’s part of the charm — but does have a dive center with water sports rentals and two onsite dining options.
Its location near Red Hook makes it easy to hop a ferry to St. John, just 15 to 20 minutes away. The hotel is also located at least 30 minutes from the St. Thomas Cruise Port, allowing guests to avoid most of the crowds when the ships are docked.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Secret Harbour Beach Resort! Spacious condo, very close to the water and with great views. The service was excellent, everyone from the staff we met was very friendly, courteous and professional. The restaurant offers a wonderful fine dining, their filet mignon is to die for!
The beach is calm and clean, nicely maintained, with sun beds, umbrellas and beach towels available.
We will definitely return!

My wife and I celebrated our 20 year wedding anniversary at Secret Harbor, for a week. The room was well decorated, clean, kitchen stocked with cookware, and the view is unbeatable. Everyday swimming among the coral and sealife was excellent. The staff was very professional, friendly, and ALWAYS courteous. Truly hard to beat the service. The dive shop staff was very helpful and went out of their way to assist with any needs. The beach club bar staff, cooks and servers know how to provide a great experience. The resort staff kept the property well manicured, clean and ready for use by guests. We will definitely return to Secret Harbor. Next time, we will take our kids too, they need to experience this resort.
Family Activities
Beach
The hotel is located on a small stretch of beach that's quite calm and relaxing, and far removed from the crowds at the Port of St. Thomas. Since all beaches in the U.S. Virgin Islands are public, some -- but not many -- passengers will visit the beach at the resort.
Dive Center
Located onsite, Aqua Action Dive Center offers diving experiences, plus other water sports equipment that includes kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear.
Family Dining
Sunset Grille
Sunset Grille isn't affiliated with the hotel, but is conveniently located onsite and a treat for hotel guests. Guests enjoy upscale, al fresco dining with ocean views, along with seafood and steak specialties. The restaurant offers an extensive wine list, as well. It is open for dinner only, 5:30 to 10. We recommend it for families with teens, though all children are welcome.
Cruzan Beach Club
Cruzan Beach Club serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails outside, with plenty of shade available. It's open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and a kids' menu is offered.
Grocery Service
You can order groceries prior to your trip (additional fee) so that you don't need to worry about shopping once you arrive. Otherwise, you can head to nearby Red Hook for any necessities.
Planning & Tips
All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is free at the resort.
Gift Shop
While it isn't affiliated with the hotel, there's a gift shop onsite that sells toiletries, snacks, beverages and gifts, such as shirts and tree ornaments. It's open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Fitness Center
The resort has a small fitness center with cardio machines, free weights, universal machines and a view of the beach. It is open 24 hours.
The Art of Smart Timing
All hotels in the U.S. Virgin Islands -- Secret Harbour Beach Resort included -- are busiest during the winter months. Families may enjoy fewer crowds and lower rates with a visit in the summer or fall months.
Getting There
The resort is about 45 minutes from Cyril E. King Airport, the only airport on the island. You will need to rent a car or get a taxi, but be aware taxis charge per person and the trip can become very costly depending on how many people are in your party.
Getting Around
You can call a taxi, though we suggest a car for your trip so you're able to explore St. Thomas. Parking is free at the hotel.
For Mom and Dad
Make a reservation at Mafolie, which overlooks the harbor in St. Thomas. The charming restaurant specializes in seafood and steaks. Try the Lobster Bisque and Caribbean Conch Fritters (some of the best on the island). You might also enjoy a quiet dinner and lovely views at Sunset Grille, located onsite.
