Overview
by Lissa Poirot
When visiting Southern California, hotel location is key, and the Cape Rey Carlsbad, formerly the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa, definitely has a fantastic spot overlooking the beach. The resort is on the smaller side and displays a décor that is reminiscent of a New England island getaway, which makes it a nice place to visit. There are not a lot of bells and whistles at this property, allowing the beach to be its main feature. Families will find comfortable seaside accommodations, an onsite restaurant and a nice-sized pool on the property.

We travel with our dogs throughout this year and this hotel is the only one so far welcomed our dogs with toys and poop bags in the doggy bag when we checked in.
Outside landscape was beautiful and there are walkway to walk dogs and enjoying ocean view and ocean breeze.
The room was located the top with balcony over looking the ocean.
Restaurant has outside seating and we were able to eat breakfast and dinner with our dogs because of the convenience we ended up eating at the hotel restaurant more often.
All of the hotel staffs were friendly including friendly to our dogs as well.
It’s very quite hotel and drive distance to San Diego and Newport Beach, Dana point where more activities and shopping.
Fitness center is a good size and had cold towels and cold water bottles which it was very convenience to a person workout for a long time.
Only thing missing to qualify the perfect hotel to me was bathtub,
But overall we had relaxing great 3days at this property.

The Art of Smart Timing
Due to Southern California's sunny and temperate climates, Carlsbad remains a year-round vacation destination. However, the hotel's peak season is during the summer and around the Christmas season, making rooms harder to come by and prices higher than if your family visits during the spring or fall.
