The hotel is a newer construction and rooms are nice. Location is just outside of the city but just a short drive. I thought it was nice to be out of some of the traffic. We had a nice view of the bay from our room. My only complaint was the breakfast area was small and not a good set up for the high volume of people. The food is in a small enclosed area and people were sort of tripping over each other trying to figure out the “flow” of traffic. There was one attendant and she did a good job keeping up but when she had to roll the coffee cart though to refill decanters everyone had to move out of her way. There was also limited seating. For a newer construction they should have thought that out a bit better. Other than that, very nice hotel for the money and I would go back!

Our room was clean and quiet and had two queen size beds, a small TV, a wobbly table and a couple of easy chairs.
While the hotel has free WI-Fi, our room lacked a desk and chair that could be used with a computer.
It's located just off US31/M72 and the entrance is hard to find. Because traffic on the highway can be heavy at times, turning left onto the highway can be dangerous at times and it may be necessary to turn right, then find a place to turn around to go left.
The hotel is about 5 miles from Traverse City and 10 from Elk Rapids. While it offers a free breakfast, there are no places to eat near by which could be an issue during winter storms for lunch and or dinner.
Grand Traverse Bay can barely be seen from the hotel and if you're looking for a place that makes you feel like you're in one of Michigan's great resort cities stay somewhere else if you're willing to pay a bit more.
The purpose of our trip was to visit family at their cottage, so this wasn't an issue.
I would consider staying at this hotel again.
