Since TripAdvisor won't let me do half stars, I've broken my review up into 2 ratings
5 Stars for the following: The staff was so friendly and helpful. Every one we met was great! Location couldn't be better, easy travel for people in wheelchairs to the beach and wharf! Cleanliness was outstanding! Great amenities for the price (mid week was super affordable).
4 Stars exclusively for Accessible Room #117: The good, The bathroom had 2 shower chairs both built in and seperate which is awesome because sometimes the ones built in can get slippery and gross(not here though). The room was plenty big enough to move around in which is not always the case even with accessible rooms. The bad; the bed was wayyyy too high for the average wheelchair user to safely and easily transfer in and out of. I had to lift my husband in and out each time as there was about a foot and a half difference between the bed and his chair height. I am young and capable so it's not a deal breaker for us, but not everyone can do that sort of lifting. Another issue which is minor, was the depth of the sink in the vanity, there's about 5 inches of counter before the sink starts which makes it hard and messy for a wheelchair user to use, especially while brushing teeth.
I hope OP Lodge takes the bed issue into consideration, because I would definitely stay there again.

I'm really not sure why this motel has a 3.5 star rating. The price, location, cleanliness, and service were excellent. We booked three rooms for a family of 9 and the price was so right for summer on the boardwalk. One of our rooms was particularly awesome: it was a two bedroom suite with a king bed when you first walk in and a separate room with another king bed which was great for us since grandma and grandpa were in the first room and me, hubby, and toddler were in the bedroom. Very nice to have separate spaces.
I also really enjoyed the pool and the TWO hot tubs. It was clean, there were bathrooms very close, and it was a good size.
It's walking distance to everything (pier, restaurants, boardwalk). I felt safe on the property and the staff assured me they take precautions to ensure safety (they're close to the pier and the homeless population has increased over the years which is unfortunate but a sign that our country needs better systems of support! Tangent...). The rooms were updated and clean. The staff was so nice and helpful for whatever we needed. e.g. Some of the vending machines ate my quarters and they paid me back no questions asked. And they're very pet friendly (didn't apply to me but cool to see doggy biscuits and water bowls in the check in area, which was cute and welcoming for humans and canines). We even got a noise complaint (totally our fault, kids were up late jumping around as our sitter was having trouble with a 5 yo, 2 yo, and 1 yo) and they were so nice about it! We apologized profusely.
Gosh writing this I sound like a terrible guest...but I'm really not! Lol with a family of 9 things can get out of hand XD
One tiny thing I had issue with (not enough to knock a star off) was the shutters on the windows are not entirely darkening and they let quite a bit of light in so it was tough to sleep in past 7am. The shutters are very nice though, maybe some curtains or window tints can help. Other than that, wonderful stay.
I've been coming to Santa Cruz every summer for 30 years and I've stayed at A LOT of hotels/motels there. This will probably be the one we stay at every summer from now on.
Bottom line: I don't care what the low star reviews say, you'll enjoy your stay here if you appreciate friendly staff, clean rooms, and excellent location.
