Moab has a mix of hotels these days, we've stayed at a few, there are a lot of new builds, but a number of good older choices exist. The Big Horn Lodge is one. We spent 2 nights here with our dog, it was a pretty good stay. Hotel is as described in other reviews, it's older with knotty pine, very 60s, but updated and clean.
Here's what we liked: Rooms were large, pet friendly rooms are on the first floor, and floors were tile (which is great for easy clean up as your pet will be bringing in red dirt, it's unavoidable), rags are provided, beds were pretty good (we found one bed was great, the other sunk on one side a bit), sheets were clean, bathroom was clean, towels were clean...we love clean. We also like large because we always seem to have of a lot of stuff, everything fit and we were able to comfortably hang out in the room. They seem to pay attention to detail, we love when there are extra hooks and a ceiling fan (as well as a desktop fan) to keep the room comfortable. Folks at the front desk were nice, check in was easy. Plenty of lighting, felt safe to leave my car in the parking lot overnight, it's on Main Street with access to everything.
What we didn't like: Weren't able to use the bathroom fan because it made a terrible screeching sound, and the doorknob wasn't working right, it was hard to get the door to close. Not sure how carpeted the room above us was, on our 2nd night someone paced loudly until midnight and we heard all of it. Because we were there at the height of season, the room was more expensive (approx $175/night), which is to be expected; the hotel was full, so the parking lot was loud, with guys running their rigs and drinking beer. It's a lot of money to pay for that, I get people are getting together and having fun but I am not sure why it has to start at 6:30 am and the vehicles are running for over an hour, very loud and unnecessary. Not exactly the hotel's fault, but a big part of the experience. We will be back to Moab, but in the off season when it's a little quieter.
