We come to Santa Fe often and have stayed at this property many times. The breakfast is still wonderful with great New Mexico touches. However, when they run out of something like nuts, bananas, etc., the container might stay empty and Starbucks would be highly disappointed to find they've water-downed their decaf. The wait staff is friendly and deserve a five rating.
The maintenance man was great (another five). The room was freezing, I complained, he came on duty at 8:00 a.m., we had to wait, but he was worth it, though these things should've been repaired before guests were assigned the room. The filter needed changing and we needed a new thermostat. After that the room temperature was fine. Front desk did promise some duraflame logs for the fireplace, but never sent them over.
The real issue at the new Residence Inn was that from the day we arrived, the room was not cleaned well. A coke spot was on the coffee table, the microwave smelled of onion, crumbs were on the carpeting, a layer of dust was on the telephone and stayed there the entire visit. Food stuffs were left on the floor in the kitchen, slithers of paper on the floor in the kitchen under the table (horribly dirty, scary under there. I'm thinking the maid is blind), the kitchen floor had a spill on it and stayed there our entire visit. The drape separating the downstairs bed and dining table was absolutely disgusting with stains and dirt.
Upstairs---we had an extremely expensive One Bedroom Penthouse house, more of the same. We stayed seven days, not once was the carpet vacuumed. Maybe it's too complicated to bring cleaning materials up the outside stairs and then lug them upstairs again to clean a room. I dropped my hat, it was still on the floor when we returned and the room had been cleaned. There was dust under the dresser, inside the closet, all around the wall, the rust colored carpeting was all dusty around the wall and edges. No, I wasn't looking, I lost an earring and had to look under things to find it. My radar was activated. The bed is a platform bed. No screen on the windows.
The kitchenette was furnished well. Upon opening the door, the presentation is nice, after that all downhill.

This property has rooms in multiple separate buildings, to which you walk, outdoors, after checking in. The room we were in seemed older/dated, as was the bathroom. Interestingly, there are fireplaces in the rooms. The usual included Residence Inn breakfast was enlivened by local touches--Mexican sweet breads and tamales-- which was a really nice touch. From the Residence Inn, it is a short and pleasant 2.5 mile walk to the touristy downtown area. This Residence Inn is quite expensive, more so than would seem appropriate for the nature of the room, but this may simply be because it is located in beautiful Santa Fe.
