Overview
by Julie Hostetter
Loews Atlanta resides in Midtown in what has been coined the “Heart of the Arts,” the city’s premier arts and entertainment district. Nearby is the esteemed Woodruff Art Museum, High Museum of Art, the historic Fox Theater and the beautiful green emerald of Atlanta: Piedmont Park. Don’t let the super sleek, modern design of the hotel fool you, as it’s not only child friendly, but pet friendly as well. The 414-room hotel makes the most of its premier location by offering floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere it can, from every guestroom to meeting and public spaces.
While Loews Atlanta may not have a pool, it does have one of the most child-friendly concierge teams that we’ve had the pleasure to meet, plus the fortune that Atlanta has grown year after year with more fun things for families to do. If your kids had their heart set on a pool, the concierge staff suggests the next best thing. Right around the corner in Piedmont Park is the newly renovated public pool that will keep you and your entire family entertained for hours. The Piedmont Park Aquatic Center boasts lap lanes for parents and a beach entry for toddlers, as well as a leisurely floating channel, ample shade and food concessions.

This is my second stay at the hotel, which is definitely my favorite when visiting Atlanta and specifically midtown Atlanta. The location is amazing among a vibrant relatively new development adding to the skyline and atmosphere of midtown Atlanta.
The rooms are modern, spacious, and clean with nice bathrooms. Many of the rooms have great views of the city or piedmont park.
The lobby area is very open, modern, and stylish. The bar is great with very talented bartenders, and the attached restaurant has great breakfast and lunch (I did not try dinner). The cheese grits are amazing, and my friend who loves charcuterie could not get enough of their charcuterie platters (which are part of their buffets as well).
The spa and gym are top notch. In fact, several of my friends who live in Atlanta have memberships at the gym because it’s much nicer than local area gyms.
The staff is always very friendly. Tyler, the front office manager, was amazing during check-in and facilitating my room upgrade, and they have a texting service if you have any issues, which is great for someone who doesn’t like to be on the phone like me.
I used the courtesy vehicle several times during my stay for short trips. It’s particularly helpful when going to the train station which is just a couple blocks away, but with your luggage is a bit more of a hassle. I also used the vehicle to go to a couple local restaurants and local sites during my stay this year and last year.
An added bonus is that they are a member of the American express fine hotels program.
If you are going to Atlanta and would like to be in the midtown area, I think this is the best overall hotel for someone who likes clean, modern style. I would say the closest competitor with regard to style and ambience is the nearby W Midtown, but this is far superior overall in my opinion.

Great place for a meeting. The rooms were very spacious and the bed and bedding were very nice. We took the hotel shuttle to the aquarium. That was a nice get away prior to the start of the meeting. Great place to eat right around the corner - Café Intermezzo. Fabulous desserts.
Family Activities
Loews Loves Kids
Loews love kids, and that is never more evident in the lengths staff will go to please their pint-size guests. Upon check-in, each child will receive a Sprout package book bag, complete with a stuffed animal of "Chica the Chicken" from the popular Sprout TV show, coloring books, a water bottle and tooth brush. The hotel restaurant will also supply kid-friendly tablets for them to play on while parents nosh away on dinner in peace.
And if parents would like something magical waiting in their room for their children when they arrive, then just request something special from the concierge. Past experiences created include a room full of 150 balloons and a Candyland-themed arrival with the iconic board game and candy dishes filled to the brim, as well as a special greeting from the Muppets, thanks to a partnership with Atlanta's newly expanded Center of Puppetry Arts, which boasts a huge new wing dedicated to Kermit, Miss Piggy and the whole wild crew.
Family Packages
The hotel concierge also coordinates family-friendly packages to the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center and the new Center for Civil and Human Right museum. But don't just hit the big sights, as the concierge team will help you plan a "live like a local" exploration of the city with customized itineraries for the entire family. Even discriminant teens and tweens have a host of options to enjoy, including the Atlanta Movie Tours that focus on hit movies and shows like "The Hunger Games" and "The Walking Dead" or a fun-filled tour of the College Sports Hall of Fame. Want to swim with a Whale Shark or have a personal swim with a dolphin? The concierge will help you book your experience. So be sure to take advantage of Loews' excellent VIP Concierge staff, especially their dynamo children's activity specialist Johnathan Vendrick, who also won Best Concierge in Atlanta by Where magazine. Trust us -- the staff will ensure your trip is more than just a vacation.
Family Dining
Saltwood
Loews guests are fortunate to have one of Midtown's newest small-plate style restaurants right in the comfort of the hotel lobby. Inspired by the restaurant's focus on salted, cured meats, your family will be at home at this casual restaurant that also focuses on kids with its Loews Loves Kids All-Day Dining Options. From mini-pancakes with bacon and a fruit bowl with whipped cream, to grilled chicken breasts, easy cheesy pizza and even staple PB& J, your child will happily eat in comfort while you feast on Alabama grass fed ribeye or Saltwood's famed Fried Chicken.
Part of the Sprout package when they arrive is a wristband that provides your kids with a free breakfast. There is a weekend buffet that the whole family can enjoy, and for fidgeting children under 5, the restaurant offers a tablet to play games in peaceful bliss.
While kids are mesmerized with their tablets, mom or dad might want to make a quick trip to the Saltwood Charcuterie & Bar that offers an extensive wine by the glass menu and some of the region's top micro brewed beers. Also, if you are visiting Monday through Friday, you won't want to miss the chef's amazing salad bar, stocked with tons of toppings, homemade salad dressings and hearty protein-rich options, such as shrimp, steak, ham and turkey. It's perfect for keeping the whole family eating healthy during your stay.

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
There is complimentary Wi-Fi in every guestroom and in public places, so you and your kids will be able to connect anywhere.
The Art of Smart Timing
While weekdays in Atlanta are bustling with business travel, the weekends are rife with families enjoying the host of tourist destinations the city offers. Summer and the holiday season, and school breaks tend to be the most popular times for families to visit the Big Peach, and staying on the weekend will keep you from paying the high business rates found during the weekdays. One caution about the weather: Atlanta isn't called Hotlanta for nothing. Try to avoid the dog days of summer, typically July and August, and consider planning your trip during the milder weather, typically in spring or fall. When is the best value? Christmas break, when the bustling city slows down to a stroll, and the cost of hotel rates and special packages comes down.
Getting There
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is roughly 12 miles away from the Loews Atlanta. MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) provides bus and rail service in the Atlanta area. Guests can catch the MARTA rail directly in the airport Domestic Terminal at the end of baggage claim. Visitors should take the train North on any red or gold line train to the Midtown station. Then just take the main exit at street level and turn right on 10th Street. At the first stoplight, cross the street and then immediately turn left to walk north on Peachtree Street. Loews will be about a block down the road on the right. Although car rentals, Uber, and airport shuttles are also readily available at the airport, it is best to take MARTA to avoid long traffic delays, which are unfortunately commonplace in Atlanta.
Getting Around
Loews Atlanta offers a complimentary car on a first-come, first-served basis within a 3-mile radius of the hotel. The hotel is also happy to provide you car seats during your stay. MARTA is a block and a half away, and just three stops from the exciting attractions downtown. Self-parking is $26 and valet parking is $36 daily.
For Mom and Dad
Loews Atlanta's fitness fenter is simply an experience you can't miss! The center has been voted one of the top 10 hotel gyms in the country, and just stepping inside the sprawling state-of-the-art center will have you racing to lace your sneakers up. As an integral part of the hotel's Exhale program, the hotel wants to make sure that guests have every opportunity to keep up their daily routines, so everything you would have at your home gym, you will have here. Beyond the endless array of exercise equipment to use at your leisure, the fitness center has workout classes throughout the day, such as spin and yoga classes. The yoga classes can at times have 30 to 40 people participating, especially in the custom yoga studio with heated floors and expertly trained instructors.
The fitness center also offers women's and men's locker rooms, complimentary lockers, and a co-ed steam room where you can unwind with your significant other after experiencing a relaxing program. Guests are guided through a special sauna treatment that begins with 15 minutes in the steam room, 15 minutes reposing in the main relaxation room with warmed marble platforms and then take a cooling misting shower, only to return to relaxed state on the heated marble. Voila, you are rejuvenated to begin anew your family vacation.
Loews Atlanta's Exhale Spa is only for 18-years-old and over, so pamper yourself with a couples massage after your invigorating workout. And considering you are in the heart of Atlanta's nightclub and entertainment district, take advantage of the concierge's help in booking a babysitter and go out exploring the best dining in Atlanta or take in a show at the historic Fox Theater.
