Located just 20 minutes from the Vermont Border in the U.S. and an hour from downtown Montreal, this beautifully appointed inn is set in the picturesque village of North Hatley. The quaint town of North Hatley is filled with century-old mansions, cozy bed and breakfasts, art galleries, antique shops and cafes. Most of the town’s majestic homes stem from wealthy American southerners who passed over New England and settled here for their summer retreat, ultimately giving the town its unique character. With the town’s rich history and charm you’ll never want to leave.
As the crown jewel of North Hatley, Manoir Hovey is set amongst the tall forest trees and rolling hills of Canada. Feeling like more of a private estate, there is something absolutely magical about this lakeside chateau. With its charming blend of luxury and sophistication, located on the picturesque shores of Lake Massawippi, you are sure to fall in love with this exquisite inn. Modeling George Washington’s white-pillared home in Mount Vernon, Manoir Hovey was previously built as a summer home in 1898. Still maintaining its Old World charm and luxury, this impressive inn has transformed into a world-renowned award winning escape for families, couples and travelers alike.
Featuring 41 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, guests can choose from a number of categories and sizes, from cozy rooms to luxury suites with fireplaces and lake view balconies. Unfortunately, you should be wealthy to stay at this place. My family chose to stay one night and it wasn't enough. Gorgeous setting and seems there is plenty to do. Rooms are gorgeous.
Food, which is highly touted is very good but I wold say it's not the best we had on ourtrip. It was excellent but maybe not as good as the price suggests. (To me, you always have to balance cost with what you get.
So, to me the upshot is luxurious rooms, perfect service and very good dinner. But very pricey.

This was our second visit to this hotel in the Eastern Township in Quebec. As the first visit. It was excellent. Very good food, While the hotel has been around since almost 120 years, it has been well maintain and the room are very modern. It is an excellent location to visit the other nice villages in the Eastern Township. One of our favorite destination any time of the year.
Family Activities
With more than 35 acres of beaches, woodland and private gardens surrounding the inn, there are a number of seasonal activities for families to choose from.
Winter Activities
In winter, enjoy snowshoeing on the inn's private trails, ice fishing and ice-skating. There are a number of nearby attractions and activities families should take advantage of including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. For skiing and snowboarding families, you can head to Sutton or Bromont for some of the best trails around. Both mountains offer a variety of terrains for all skill levels as well as a daycare and riding lessons.
If you are looking for a day away from the slopes, dog sledding is a fun and exciting activity you and your kids will love. Spend the afternoon with man's best friend exploring the great outdoors. It's an extraordinary way to embrace the tranquility of nature while trying out a great family-friendly sport; and trust me, you'll love every minute of it. If you're looking for more, another great option is a sleigh ride. Right in town, Randonnees J. Robidas offers carriage rides, horseback riding, and guided tours of North Hatley. Rides in both the winter and summer are available.

In the nearby area, there are a number of nine-hole and 18-hole golf courses for those looking to take on the greens. Families can explore the countryside by horseback at Randonnees J. Robidas, or visit one of the many nearby museums including the Louis St. Laurent National Historic Site.
