My brother and I just returned from five nights at the Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott, Maui. I feel obligated to write this review because I had some hesitation about booking due to the few slightly negative reviews I've read about the hotel on TripAdvisor.
Well, our stay was excellent! My brother booked a room with a deck overlooking the infinity pool, and I booked a garden view room but I was upgraded to a partial ocean view room upon arriving.
We arrived at noon and we were able to immediately check in. There was no wait at the front desk and our rooms were ready. Since it was noon, it felt that we had an entire extra day to enjoy the pool. The rooms were very clean and did not look worn at all. Everything in both rooms worked.
Everyone, and I mean everyone, on the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The housekeepers, bartenders, food servers, bus people, valet staff, and housekeepers were all extremely nice people.
We especially liked the infinity pool which was so quiet and relaxing (no children allowed); and Terri, who is one of cocktail waitresses at the infinity pool, is a supreme example of a person approaching her job with a positive attitude.
We liked the hotel so much that we hardly left the property during the five days we were there. ... and I've stayed in some of the world's top hotels.
The only regret that I had is that I didn't take the kayak/snorkeling tour that goes to the reef in front of the hotel to get a close up view of the many sea turtles and tropical fish.
If you stay there, be sure to check out the water slide. It's awesome! Also, I was surprised by the gift shop. They stock a variety of snacks and drinks for reasonable prices.
This Marriott is an example of a well-managed hotel. I'll be back very soon!

Excellent turtle snorkel and kayak tour with guide Kiana. I was very inexperienced and she helped me immensely. We saw many turtles, fish, and other forms of sea life. I would highly recommend this tour.
