Last minute we decided we wanted to stay in Wailea our last night in Maui and booked at the Fairmont. What a GREAT decision!! The service and attention to detail is second to none. The rooms were GORGEOUS and very spacious. We were so sad to leave and can’t wait to return!

Place was great. Everyone was friendly. The beach was fantastic... clear water, great sand, and they set up beach chairs etc. They have a swim up bar with stools partially submerged. The breakfast was really good with local fruit.
Family Activities
Keiki Lani
This kids' club is open to children between 5 and 13 and provides full-day, half-day and private evening programs at an additional fee from the resort and accommodations. Activities include indoor and outdoor fun, such as volcano building and tide pooling. Reservations are required at least one day in advance, except during Drop In times (2 to 4 p.m.), for a $10-per-hour, per-child fee. The children's program includes a snack and lunch, and ranges in price.
Pools and Watersports
The resort features three swimming pools, including two that are kid-friendly activity pools. The Keiki pool is the most popular for children, as it features a lazy river and water slides. Note: Children 2 and younger must wear swim diapers, which are available in the café. Pool chairs are limited; many of the chairs are actually on a lawn. If you want to find a space beside the pool to watch young ones, you'll need to nab a chair early in the morning, or reserve a cabana (for an additional fee).
The resort rests on Polo Beach and beach activities can be arranged, including stand-up paddle boarding, boogie boarding, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, Hawaiian canoeing, and SCUBA diving. Umbrellas are free, but available on a fist-come, first-served basis (one per suite), and can be rented at the Beach Pavilion.
Game Room
Located in the front rotunda, near the lobby, a small game room is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with video games, plus a Ping Pong and Foosball table. Outdoors, on the front lawn, families may also enjoy Bocce and croquet.
Peak Season Activities
During the summer months, spring break and winter holidays, guests can visit the Paeahu Terrace for daily activities, such as ukulele lessons, evening stargazing, hula lessons and lei making. In the hotel lobby, daily activities include storytelling, Hawaiian culture tours, and Ocean Discovery talks and tours. Outdoor movies under the stars are also featured throughout peak times on the Paeahu Terrace.
Hawaiian Canoe Experience
Children 10 and older can learn how to paddle a traditional Hawaiian canoe and get a chance to work together on the ocean. Reservations are required, and trips depart in the morning from the beach. This is complimentary for all resort guests 10 and older.
Family Dining
Children 5 and younger eat free off the Keiki menu when accompanied by an adult, and milk, juice and soda are included. Children ages 6 to 12 receive half off when ordering off of the menu. The program is not available at the lounge, café, and Nick's, or for poolside and in-room dining. Additionally, the resort features a new Lifestyle Cuisine program of healthy items on kids' menus.
Caffe Ciao Deli
This Italian-style bakery and deli features grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and snacks. Guests will find fresh-baked pastries, pasta, pizza, salads, and gourmet items, as well as beverages and specialty coffees. Guests can also request Picnic To Go for custom-filled picnic baskets, perfect before heading off to drive the Road to Hana. Open 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Ko
Voted by locals to be one of Maui's best restaurants, Ko (meaning "sugarcane" in Hawaiian) combines Hawaiian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Portuguese family dishes into a fusion of contemporary meals. Local and farm-fresh ingredients are used for a dinner menu with such treats as Coconut Curry Lamb Chops with a mango-mint sauce and the restaurant's signature sushi. Children 5 and under eat free.

The resort's breakfast spot provides open-air dining for both buffet and a la carte breakfast. Open from 6:30 to 11 a.m. daily.
Nick's Fishmarket Maui
One of the island's top seafood restaurants, Nick's provides indoor and outdoor seating, serving local and fresh seafood, including dishes like Candied Peanut Crusted Hawaiian Opah. Nick's has become a staple to visitors and locals alike; it has operated in this location since the resort opened 20 years ago. The restaurant's 2,000-bottle wine cellar is perfect for wine connoisseurs. Open from 5:30 to 10 p.m. for dinner, with happy hour specials available between 5 and 7 p.m.
Luana Lounge
This open-air lobby lounge provides a sunset view often accompanied by live entertainment. It also provides a small bites menu. Open daily from 3 to 11 p.m.
Ama Bar & Grill
Located near the pool, Ama Bar & Grille is a new addition to the resort. This open-air dining spot is popular for lunches with plate specials and swim-up bar. The bar is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and the grill is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Villa Barbeque
Guests of the villas have barbeque grills to enjoy, and the resort's BBQ menu provides hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, lobster, seafood and other items perfect for grilling your own delicious meal. Guests can elect to do their own cooking or allow a resort chef to do the work for them.

The Art of Smart Timing
Wailea is known for its sunny, rain-free weather and is one of the drier resort areas. Like all visits to Hawaii, the resort's peak travel season is Christmas, Easter break and summer months, but its perfect weather makes it an ideal destination year-round. There may be less activities offered in the slower seasons, but also less guests taking up valuable pool chair space.
Getting There
Wailea is a popular resort area within 15 miles from the Kahului Airport (about a 30-minute drive.) The resort can make arrangements for pickup from the airport through concierge and provides rental car services from its lobby, but it would be more convenient and cheaper to just rent a car from the airport. Private airport pickup starts above $200, while taxis will charge around $75. If renting a car, self-parking is included in the resort fee. Valet parking is additional.
Getting Around
A free shuttle is available within the Wailea Makena area that connects resorts and shopping. A rental car or taxi will also be beneficial if looking to explore more of the island.
For Mom and Dad
Parents can relax at the resort's Willow Stream Spa, and when booking a spa treatment between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. during peak seasons, kids can play in the Keiki Lani Kids Club for free. The spa features a heat and hydro facility with a shower series that mimics Hawaii's 25 different types of rains, such as cool morning mist, afternoon rain and evening storms. The spa offers 13 treatment rooms and is one of five spas in North America offering a 360-degree moving wave treatment table. The spa also houses the fitness center with wellness classes, and provides full services from body treatments to massages to facials and nail services in its new nail spa.
Parents can also visit the adjacent Wailea golf resorts, Wailea Gold, Wailea Emerald and Wailea Blue courses. The resort provides complimentary transportation to the courses.
