Sheraton Maui sits on Kaanapali Beach at the dramatic point where black lava rock meets the ocean. The hotel offers over 500 rooms and suites with private balconies that face the ocean. Interiors feature traditional Hawaiian decors with rattan chairs and colorful block prints. Modern amenities are in the rooms, like high-speed Internet and flat-screen televisions. Suites also present separate bedrooms, full kitchens and living areas. A handful of restaurants serve an array of specialties from seafood to steak to local island dishes. A beachfront luau showcases dancers, music and historical stories. For fun, families can enjoy ocean snorkeling or take cultural classes in hula dancing or ukulele music. The Adventure Club schedules daily activities for children. Everyone can enjoy the large lagoon-style pool with waterfalls. Children enjoy their own pool, as well.

I will start of by saying this is a very nice resort with a great location. However, for the price, I was disappointed. First of all, there was loud construction going on directly underneath our room that started very early each morning. So when we wanted to sleep in past 8am on vacation, we could not. Another thing that was disappointing is our TV in our room hardly worked the entire time. We stayed for 4 days and had to complain about the TV not turning on 3 separate occasions. The price of the room, plus the high parking cost and resort fees each night was not worth the experience we had.

I read all of the recent reviews prior to coming here, but have to say I was pleasantly surprised NOT to experience most of the things everyone complained about recently. Here’s a list.
*Customer service excellent. From the greeting with shell necklaces upon arrival, to check in with a host walking us toward our room, to all of the restaurant staff. Every single person has been helpful and just plain friendly. I have not had the negative experience so many have included in their reviews.
*Construction-true that I didn’t know the hotel was under construction until I read reviews here the hotel should warn guests upon booking. but so far during our stay it hadn’t been a problem. We arrived on. Thursday and stayed through Monday but haven’t heard much noise at all even though we are two floors below the new lobby where all the construction is taking place. And other than when we first arrived, we haven’t gone to the lobby anyway so seeing construction hasn’t been an issue.
*Restaurants-only problem with the construction is that the the main dinner restaurant called Roksalt is also under construction so has been moved out at night to what is the Mai Tai bar during the day. That’s fine except it rained the night we tried to eat there so everyone was directed to the new RokSalt which is a pretty banquet type room where where breakfast is served. While it didn’t bother us - we stayed at the bar and at at the actual bar to avoid the rain - many couples walked up who were dressed up a bit and were looking for the restaurant and seemed confused and impatient. I can see why they were frustrated when they found out the restaurant wasn’t really a restaurant right now and had also moved. Still we ate from RokSalt bar at the bar in the rain and it was delicious! Same menu no matter where it was served. It’s all perspective I guess :)
*the grounds-lovely! Green. Flowers. Lush. Birds. Right on the beach!
*The room-I upgraded us spontaneously upon arrival to a walk-out first floor suite. It’s been worth every penny! A few feet from the pool which is easy access for the kids all day long. Can still see the beach, the sunset and sunrise. This property is big, but staying in this room has kept our world small next to the breakfast room, cliff dive bar, the beach and the walking trail. Perfect. An added bonus, the Friday night Luau was literally across from our room so we saved the money we had planned to spend going to the Luau and spent it on the room instead, and still watched the Luau from our porch! Room 1104-would recommend! I’ve seen others complain about the rooms but I think they’re great. Carpets are clean. Look recently renovated. Bathrooms nice. This is a 700 sq ft suite with sliding doors between The bedroom and living room which is nice to let the kids sleep. The mattresses are very average and not soft at all is the only thing Negative thing I will say!
Overall, I’ve had a great experience here and would highly recommend!
