Disappointing Re-Visit

by pate22

We spent a week at the Resort from August 24th-31st. We had stayed here twice before, when it was the Embassy Suites Poipu Beach. Most of the Resort is unchanged from what we remembered, other than wear and tear - the Unit we stayed in had worn out cabinets, toilets were old and not functioning well - we had to call maintenance a couple of times for toilets running, and not flushing. Kitchen seemed untouched as far as updating over the years - appliances and coffee maker, toaster, etc. seemed very worn. Looking back at old photos from previous stays, some of the furnishings and carpeting have been replaced, but overall still pretty worn looking. LOTS of walking at this Resort from parking areas to units, and from Lobby to Units, particularly the Ocean View units. Ocean views are very nice, but there is no beach access. You can walk about 1/2 mile along a trail to a nice sandy beach in front of the Hyatt Hotel. The Resort Pool is really just for wading - I remember it being sandy bottomed, but it is presently concrete, with a small sand beach surrounding it on one side. No on site Restaurant other than a Pool Bar which serves food and beverages, so for a Restaurant type meal you need to either drive, or walk to the Hyatt. Time Share tour is not worth the time unless you want to buy. Other discounts on activities can be found. Checkout is 11 a.m. so if you have a late night flight to the Mainland, plan accordingly - might want to pay for another night.

Ocean front and 2 bedrooms, Great value on tours and dining. Beautiful landscaping. Love the sounds of the ocean at night and beautiful sunrises. Capt Andy's Trip to Napoli is the best.. need a rental car to enjoy the sites and shopping at your leisure
