Plan on bringing diapers and similar necessities with you to this family-friendly destination because the closest store is a 45-minute boat ride away. Less than six miles from the border with Mexico, Tranquility Bay is nonetheless, an ideal family location. Eleven brightly colored beach cabanas have kitchenettes for those who prefer to cook or snack on their own. However, breakfast at the Aquarium Cafe is included in the daily rates. With detailed murals of Caribbean fish on the walls and a safe dock from which to watch the real fish in the city, your family will certainly enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Aquarium. Managers Carlos and Isabelle Settle have children of their own, so you can be assured that safety is their highest priority. Fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking or building sand castles on the beach fill the days here.

It was peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed ourselves and would go back. Out of all the places in the area, this one was way less hustle and bustle. We only got the opportunity to visit there, not stay on this caye.

I had reservations for my family to stay at Tranquility Bay from July 18th through the 21st. Found out the resort is closing at the end of June for renovations only because I received an unexpected check in the mail for $250 from "Arizona Belize Partners LLC" last week. That was my deposit refund. I had to track down a phone number of a company based in Omaha, Nebraska and was told by someone unaffiliated with the hotel that it was not accepting guests after June 30. Nobody with the hotel bothered to call or send an email or letter to let me know this was going on. This is a horrible way to conduct business and certainly did not allow much time to make other lodging arrangements. I caution anyone who wants to stay there in the future to give thought to the lack of character and professionalism of the old and new owners. Clearly, there is no regard to what is best for their customers!
