Overview

The only accommodations actually inside the park, Zion Lodge offers families the opportunity to sleep in right the midst of Zion’s majestic sandstone cliffs. There are three types of rooms at Zion Lodge: cabins, motel rooms and suites. Cabins, which sleep up to four people, have two double beds, fireplaces and private porches. Cribs and rollaway beds are not permitted in cabins, but these are allowed in motel rooms, which have two queen-size beds or one kind bed. There are just six suites, but these plush digs include a separate sitting room, king-size bed and a wet bar with a mini-fridge and sink. Zion Lodge’s onsite restaurant, Red Rock Grill, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6:30 a.m. through 9 p.m.

The Zion Lodge is the only lodge in the park. The room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. We were able to get a good night's sleep. There is a private balcony with 2 rocking chairs overlooking the common area, where we were able to view wildlife. They state the room is not ready until 4:00 pm, and although many people were able to get into their rooms beginning at noon, the employees would not release our room until 4:00 pm on the dot. All guests are not treated equally. Our reservation was made 11 months ago. The beauty of the Park made up for the less than helpful and unfriendly employees.

We stayed here for 3 nights while hiking in Zion. The rooms were large with a private balcony with 2 rocking chairs and small table. The room had a safe, which I appreciated. The bathroom was nice, but the water took a very long time to get warm. The housekeeping staff replaced towels and made the bed, but apparently they did not vacuum the room. There was a pill on the floor just inside the door and a huge cobweb in the corner when we got there, and they were both still there after we spent 3 nights. The breakfast buffet each morning had plenty to choose from. The huge fireplace in the common area of the lodge we stayed in was wonderful. This was a great area to relax.
