This resort is simply paradise within paradise. When you first arrive, you’ll marvel at the immense and gorgeous open-air atrium. The Hyatt offers 806 rooms, many with outstanding views, that are located in 3 towers — a nine-story Atrium Tower, seven-story Lahaina Tower and eight-story Napili Tower. The guest rooms are decorated in muted colors, and each room has a mini-fridge (empty for your use), coffee maker and marble bathroom. Request a microwave at $10 per day.
The Hyatt grounds are truly something to behold with forty acres of tropical ambience, including lagoons, swinging rope-bridges, a half-acre winding pool with 150-foot lava tube slide, an underwater cave, swim-up bar, a keiki pool, waterfalls, six restaurants, an outstanding keiki club and a popular “tour of the stars” on the rooftop. The list of activities within the resort is dizzying, too: hula-dancing, scuba-diving lessons, tennis clinics and an extremely fun wildlife tour of the resident avian, including swans, penguins, colorful parrots and cranes. Still, the list goes on. Mom might love a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage in the Spa Moana, a full service, to-die-for spa and salon. Or, as a couple, you might want to park the kids with a sitter and enjoy a couple’s massage in the couple’s suite.
The Hyatt produces one of the premiere kids clubs with its Camp Hyatt program. For kids 5 years to 12 years, the camp opens for fun at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 3:00 p.m. It opens again for evening fun from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. It’s true that you may not see your kids much on the days when their calendars are booked with Camp Hyatt activities. Camp counselors keep the kids busy with loads of activities like hula lessons, lei-making, bird-watching, sandcastle-building and even volcano-building.

We’ve stayed at this resort several times and always have a great time. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The pool is gorgeous with easy access to the beach. The food at all of the restaurants was delicious and bar service at the pool was fast.
Renovations were happening in one of the towers but you would have never noticed. In fact, the resort was quieter than usual due to the decreased room availability. The rooms themselves are clean and perfectly adequate, so I don’t understand the negative posts. You’re in Maui, why waste time in your hotel room? People will find anything to complain about.

We paid a bit extra and got an oceanfront room on a high floor. It had two queen beds and a balcony with chairs where we could sit and enjoy the ocean, and especially watching the sun set in the evening. There appear to be three buildings in the complex.
We were on the 21st floor in the main building, which contains floors 14-22. I assume floors 1-13 are in the other buildings and cannot speak to the quality or condition of the other two buildings.
The hotel is at the start of the strip in Lahania. Once can walk up the beach in the sand or on a sidewalk to other hotels, restaurants, Starbucks and Whaler's Village, where we were able to catch catamarans for snorkeling trips. The beach in front of the hotel is a bit shallow, and there are rocks in the water out 10 feet or so, but on the right side of the hotel area (facing the beach) there is an area with no rocks and only sand where it is easy to swim out and snorkel. There are fish and turtles in the water one can see when the water is calm (not a lot of waves). The undertow can be strong though when it is more windy and rough.
There are two good restaurants in the hotel: Japengo is a terrific Japanese restaurant, and we ate there multiple times during our stay. We could not get reservations, but were able to get an indoor table in the sushi bar area without a reservation each time with little or no wait. The steakhouse was also quite good.
There is no free coffee in the lobby so one must go to the coffee shop in the lobby where coffee is quite expensive ($5.75 for a 16 oz cup of brewed black coffee). There are a number of shops on the first floor including a small Macys that offers beach and swim wear.
The staff were all very attentive and welcoming and the hotel was spotless and very well kept.
Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and our room and would go there again.
