A National Historic Landmark (one that’s said to be haunted), Big Trees Lodge (formerly Wawona Hotel) is located just a few miles from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park. Open seasonally, the hotel offers charm from a bygone era, with a grand front porch where parents sip cocktails and watch kids play outside in the evenings. Families may choose accommodations with private baths, or less expensive rooms with shared bathrooms. The hotel also offers a “Create a Suite” option, in which families and groups may book a group of adjacent rooms and share a bathroom.
The lodge offers an outdoor pool, onsite restaurant, golf course (across the street) and free Wi-Fi in some of the property’s common areas. Parking is also free.

Wawona truly exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect place to stay for our weekend in Yosemite. Not only were there great Dirty Dancing resort vibes but also the food was wonderful, the fireplace cozy, the staff super hospitable, and the evening piano entertainment was incredibly special. Tom Bopp is not to be forgotten. We will definitely return!

Stayed here for two nights. Rustic but clean and very quiet. Food was very good and we stayed in and ate three dinners here. Great place to hang out at night. Forty five minute drive to the valley. We would return.
