Sailing from the HarborWalk Village Marina in Destin just over the bridge from Fort Walton Beach, the Southern Star Dolphin Cruise is an ideal way to enjoy being out on the water and watching the dolphins at play. All visitors will enjoy this narrated, two-hour cruise, but those with children will especially love the kid-friendly activities that occur each cruise.
For instance, while sailing in the harbor, everyone on board has the opportunity to feed seagulls from the back of the boat. Once out in the gulf, passengers can search for dolphins in the water, or head below deck to seek out marine life through the glass bottom. Toward the end of the cruise, the kids are permitted to steer the boat as it heads back to the harbor. Parents are welcome to take photos. Kids steering the boat will receive an honorary captain certificate. Just before the cruise ends, the kids can choose a souvenir from the treasure chest.
A snack bar and restrooms are onboard in the climate-controlled “cabin.” This company also operates a sister cruise, the Buccaneer Pirate Cruise, that may be of interest to families.
