This 105-acre nature sanctuary has several hiking options that should be a good fit for most families, as there are no steep elevations or rugged terrain to clamor over. There are 2 miles of dirt trails, a fun choice for kids old enough to be out of strollers. For those with young tots, however, there is a quarter-mile paved trail that winds around two lakes, a stream, and forested areas quiet enough to sooth little ones who need naps. Kids under 12 will likely enjoy the visitor center’s educational displays and art gallery, and parents might not mind visiting the gift shop, which emphasizes environmentally-themed books.
