Visitors interested in the area’s history and heritage on and along the water will love this museum. Filled with exhibits, photographs and memorabilia, the museum documents a number of industries including shrimping, oystering, crabbing, recreational fishing, managing marine resources, marine blacksmithing, wooden boat building, and net-making. See a shrimp peeling machine, learn more about the region’s wetlands, and find out how local residents and maritime and seafood industry professionals recovered from some of the nation’s worst hurricanes.
Hours
Open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and open Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. (closed on Sundays from December through February)
