The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies serves as a liaison to the public regarding the conservation, education and research into marine mammals and their environment. Visitors to the center can check out the interactive museums as they learn more about these animals, plus see a variety of animals in the Discovery Room touch pools. These include fish, blue crabs, stingrays, sea urchins, sea stars, sharks and horseshoe crabs. There’s even a fossil dig where you may uncover your own shark tooth.
The institute also offers a number of animal presentations that include dolphins, birds and reptiles. Guests also can participate in dolphin encounters and dolphin interaction programs for an additional fee.
Please note the institute is open to the public on a limited basis, so all tours and events require a reservation.
