Captain Joe is the man to give you a good orientation tour to the aquatic life of Wrightsville Beach, as well as all sorts of history of this community. He’s a field ornithologist so he can teach you and your kids about the birds that like this marshy area, such as the American Oyster Catcher and the Black Skimmer who spend their summers here. But Captain Joe knows about underwater creatures and how it all interacts with each other. Watch for blue nose dolphins in the sound and birds diving for other fish just below the surface.

You can also go on pirate cruises, fishing charters or cruises to pick up shells along the beaches. The boat holds about 20 people, so there’s plenty of opportunity for questions and interaction with the Captain.
