With a longer ski season than most resorts (opens in mid-October and closes in June), Arapahoe Basin in Keystone, Colorado, is a great spot for families to enjoy the snow on the slopes. The mountain is some of the highest skiable terrain in North America, too. And with 109 trails across 960 skiable acres, families will surely find a way to enjoy their time on the mountain. Skiing and snowboarding is available, as are lessons, for skiers and boarders of all ages. Kids as young as 3 can join in on the fun, too!

Lodging

Although there is no lodging at the mountain, surrounding resorts and hotels include the Summit Peaks Lodge (about 20 minutes away) and the Keystone Resort (about 12 minutes away).

Dining

Onsite dining options include the Black Mountain Lodge (breakfast and lunch), Legends Cafe (breakfast, lunch and snacks), the 6Th alley Bar & Grill (breakfast, lunch and early dinner), Snow Plume Refuge (breakfast and lunch) and the Coffee Corner (breakfast and lunch, plus snacks and hot drinks).

Rates

Full-day lift tickets start from $69 per adult (19 to 59), $57 per youth (15 to 18), and $34 per child (6 to 14); kids 5 and under ski for free. Children under 14 also ski for free during certain weeks in the early winter.

Getting There

If you fly into Denver International Airport, the Basin is about two hours by car. Colorado Springs and Vail/Eagle Airports are also serviced by major airlines, though both are further from the mountain.
