Many visit Venice and find the Bridge of Sighs from the Rio Di Palazzo, and clamor to take a photo. Instead of just getting a photo, step across the bridge through the Doge’s Palace to the prison. The rumor is that as prisoners would cross the bridge, they would take one last look at their beloved Venice and sigh, thus its nickname. The prison is a maze of cells, including one that briefly held Casanova until he escaped in 1755.
