Housed in a building designed to mimic the flow of the Ohio River across from which it sits, The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is home to moving exhibits and interactive hands-on stations that tell the history of slavery in America, as well as modern-day human trafficking around the world. Families should allow themselves three or more hours to tour the center and take in the information found in its exhibits.

Families and groups of four or more can make special arrangements to do a private tour. The Center has expert docents and historical interpreters throughout its four floors to help provide context for the exhibits. The Freedom Center is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Mondays. Note: Due to the heavy nature of the subject matter, a visit to the center is best for older children.
