For those looking to get outside the city and experience nature a bit, Fontanelle Forest is a great option. Located just minutes from downtown Omaha, you’ll find 19 miles of dirt trails throughout 1400 acres of conserved prairie, forest, and marshland. For families with strollers or wheelchairs, there is a one-mile boardwalk through the forest. Kids will love both the indoor play area and Acorn Acres, an outdoor, natural playscape.
The area is open daily, year round. However, the facilities are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Children under 2 are free.
